After seeing Mark Knight for the 4th time this year, I believe his name needs to be included in conversations about the best djs and producers in the world. Every performance he has is mindblowing. He brought his amazing energy to the decks of the Miami’s Space Terrace and kept people on the dancefloor, as people were filled with amazement, for about 10 hours! His set was epic and one I will always remember. He has some of the best techno and tech house tracks I have ever heard. I have watched world reknown djs perform for about 13 years and in my opinion, he is just as good as any of the top djs in the world. He is very animated and entertaining with his dj skills and track selection. The crowd was not bored even for a minute. Mark Knight definitely made a lasting impression for everyone that saw him on the Space Terrace. Another very impressive thing about Mark Knight is that he took time out to dance, take pictures, talk to, and dance with his fans. He’s the man!
For those who don’t know, Mark Knight runs Toolroom which is one of the most amazing labels in electronic dance music. Review of Mark Knight’s Amazing Performance @ The Space Terrace Miami
Tuesday, September 30th, 2008Kim Fai-Kissing in Krakow LP-Toolroom Out Soon!
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008KIM FAI â âKISSING IN KRAKOWâ
RELEASE DATE: 22nd OCTOBER 2008 / CAT NO: LONS010
Toolroomâs prominent âLeaders Of The New Schoolâ EP series was breaking ground for some of our hottest names including Richard Dinsdale & Patric La Funk; and in January of this year the series spread its wings to become a fully-fledged digital label, out to expose the freshest future talent and cutting-edge music from around the globe! Over the past 9 months the Leaders Of The New School label has relentlessly fired out awesome EPs to the worldâs dancefloors, from artists such as Matt Samuels, Martin Eyerer & Patrick Chardronnet, Kate Lawler, Tim Weeks, Flip & Djuma Soundsystem & many more.
Now, the time has come to serve up a full & complete artist album from one of the brightest and most talented young DJ/Producers around… Ladies and Gentlemen, we present to you KIM FAI, with his compelling debut LP âKissing In Krakowâ!
Kim Fai burst out of Birminghamâs club scene a year ago and instantly seized the attention and support of big-leaguers Mark Knight and Funkagenda. Showering the scene with an arsenal of twisted techy bangers, he built himself a quick reputation as a genuine âone to watchâ! Coming-of-age last December with his mammoth re-rub of Funkagendaâs Toolroom Trax smash âWhat The Fuckâ, which tore up the Beatport Tech House chart, Kim cemented his position as one of the foremost young producers in the scene.
Heâs spent a large part of this year locked in the studio tightening and honing his skills, remixing for labels such as Big Love, PopPop, Nervous, Flatbelly, Control Freq & Groovedigital; and giving his album the final tweaks to ensure itâs truly killer material. From special collaborations with Funkagenda, Micky Slim & Paul Thomas, to DJ gigs in Australia, Austria, Canada, Switzerland, Poland and all over the UK, Kim Fai is a man on a mission. This bold album is the icing on the cake of a very exciting year!
In âKissing In Krakowâ Kim deftly blends rugged body-shaking tech house with touches of stripped back minimal and flourishes of emotive melodies, forming an album that will excite clubbers and DJs right across the house spectrum. The title track is a mischievous slice of jaunty, ear-catching tech with a perky riff that sounds like a traditional Polish folk dance; itâs a frisky firecracker of a track that will embed itself in your brain for days after hearing it! âEmpty Insideâ is a driving forcefield of brooding bass and propulsive beats, with a drawn-out drop that slams back in and tears a club apartâŚ
âRecluseâ brings a tense, edgy atmosphere with a man ominously intoning, âItâs not about whoâs rightâŚâ over a mesmerizingly dark houser that constantly flexes up and down, keeping every person locked to the dancefloor. Itâs a slick, accomplished track that is one of the many highlights of the LP. âExcusesâ is a sure-fire anthem to give your crowd goosebumps, a tough, rigorous bassline powering the track through jets of white noise, under a shimmering melody that envelopes you and draws you right in. And yet another outstanding track is âEmboâ, an epic slab of flawless peak-time dynamite that has âhugeâ written all over it - built for main room destruction on a vast scale!
The album delivers nine tracks of solid dancefloor gold, topped off with âPass A Roachâ, a blissful, twinkling downtempo gem tinged with melancholy; a simply perfect way to close this powerful LP.
FUNKAGENDA: âEvery track on here has been in my set at some point⌠I donât know many artists I can say that about. Amazing stuff.â
MARK KNIGHT: âKim Fai is set to be a star of the future, his tracks feature in all of my sets. A true âLeader of the New Schoolâ!â

M-nus 10th Year Anniversary Show Was Epic @ Metro Chicago
Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008The coolest thing about the whole experience of the Minus show was that every dj/producer was a legit Minus artist and there were no warm up acts. Troy Pierce opened the show. How cool is that? Troy Pierce could headline any show. Heartthrob was amazing and he was followed by Magda, Gaiser, and of course the infamous Richie Hawtin. The Minus artists are rarely in North America at all so this was an amazing opportunity. Every person that played used a Mac Book and really sweet FX processors which added to the nice minimal techno flavor. I believe Ableton was used mostly and some Serato. A whole stage curtain was made with the Minus logo on it which made the background really tight looking. It was nice to see three of Your-Scene’s biggest dj/producers
all in one show. Richie Hawtin is our #1 Minimal dj and producer, but also Magda and Troy Pierce are ranked. Oh, by the way, Richie Hawtin’s set blew up so much that the club was open until after 5am. No one was gonna stop him.

Mark Knight Was Awesome @ Sound Bar Chicago
Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008If you ever get the chance to see Mark Knight play, do it! He’s one of the best djs and producers in the world and very animated and entertaining on the decks. He has his own style of tech house, which is fully represented during his sets and on his Toolroom label. At Sound Bar Chicago, Mark Knight mixed in some house music classics remixed to fit his unique flavor. He had everyone dancing the whole time and the girls that came out to support him and dance were breathtaking.
I had the opportunity to meet Mark Knight and he is a guy that is very respectful to his fans and will take time to talk to them. He totally rocked the classy Sound Bar Dance Club and there was no where else that I would have rather been that night. Mark Knight is ranked as the Your-Scene.com #1 Tech House dj and producer, which will be a new genre section added to the website soon. Mark Knight is also ranked as one of our top house djs and producers. Mark Knight and tracks from his Toolroom label are consistantly charted across various top ten single lists on Your-Scene.com as well.
