Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Both Wutam and J-Break are now living in San Diego and have been teaming up to make some killer progressive and electro house lately. Some of their tracks have been played by some of the greats like Tiesto as of late and I think they are on to something very big. They have been pumping out a lot of remixes and original tracks and most of them are available on Beatport. They are working on a few releases on Play Records/Play Digital in the near future. They just recently remixed Modjo-Lady and we have it posted here for everyone’s listening and downloading pleasure @ 320.

Play Records-All U Ever Want-featuring Billy Newton-Davis vs. Deadmau5 has won the 2008 Juno Award for Best Dance Recording at the Juno Awards

(Calgary, April 5, 2008) – With pride and excitement Play Records announces that All U Ever Want, featuring Billy Newton-Davis vs. Deadmau5 has won the 2008 Juno Award for Best Dance Recording at the Juno Awards Gala, held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The force behind Play Records, Melleefresh, aka Melleny Melody, enlisted long time friend Billy Newton Davis to collaborate with Deadmau5 on the All You Ever Want track, which quickly became a staple in clubs worldwide as well as on international radio play lists.

Melleny, who herself was nominated in the same Juno category with her track After Hours, discovered the star-bound Deadmau5 in 2004 and began collaborating with the talented Producer/DJ on a number of sizzling releases, among them the hugely successful Beautiful & Rich & Horny. Her other hits Hey Baby and Cocktail Queen helped to establish Play Records as one of the more progressive and popular labels on the global dance music website www.beatport.com

Billy Newton-Davis is one of Canada’s premiere entertainers and has appeared on stage with such legendary acts as Celine Dion, Eartha Kitt, Jocelyn Brown and dance queen Gloria Gaynor.

The Juno Awards are the Annual Canadian Music Industry equivalent to the UK Brit Awards and the Grammy’s held in the USA.

Established in 1996, Play Records, powered by Melleefresh and DJ Spydabrown, has consistently released an incredible selection of electro house, disco, dub, drum n bass, techno breaks and disco house recordings.

R: What music inspired you?

C: All kinds of music has and continues to inspire me. I don’t like to narrow down or categorize music into little boxes or adjectives. I search for exciting music, not some sub-genre nick name for music. I am after anything fresh and exciting, and generally left (or right) of center.

R: Who inspires you now?

C: I am inspired by life and everyday living. I don’t look to one person or one thing to motivate me. My motivation comes from within. So anything in the everyday world can have an impact on what I, or any person, can do with their music.
